What's the defference between "Automated" and "Manual" shopping carts?

We have written our own shopping cart software that you can use on your web site.

The difference between automated and manual order processing is this:

With automated order processing, when a customer places an order through your web site, the order is sent directly to the credit card company for processing. You only receive an emailed confirmation that the order has been processed.

With manual order processing, the order is NOT sent to the credit card company at all, instead, you will receive a secure email with the order details and you have to process the order yourself.
